Southern Literary Journal, a peer-reviewed journal edited by Fred Hobson and Minrose Gwin, publishes scholarly articles on the literature of the American South and reviews of critical works on southern literature and culture.

Recent issues of the Southern Literary Journal include articles on Kate Chopin, Fred Chappell, Charles W. Chesnutt, Ralph Ellison, William Faulkner, Ellen Glasgow, Bobbie Ann Mason, William Gilmore Simms, Jean Toomer, Alice Walker, Robert Penn Warren, Eudora Welty, and Tennessee Williams.

Southern Literary Journal is published biannually by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of English and is distributed by the University of North Carolina Press.
