Deadlines for Submission
The Department of English strongly recommends that all application materials be received by December 1 of each application year. Because it often takes up to one month for us to receive those portions of your application sent to the Graduate School, and because we begin reviewing applications around 1 January, your application will receive prompt attention only if all materials are submitted by 1 December. Your application will not be reviewed until all application materials are received. It is the responsibility of each applicant to check that all materials, including recommendation letters, have been received – applicants may do this by checking the status of their application online through the UNC Graduate School website.
Please remember that ETS often takes between 4 and 8 weeks to report GRE examination scores. You will thus need to complete the GRE exam no later than the end of October in order to guarantee that your scores reach us in time for the December 1 deadline.
